A Drake’s Security guard was seriously injured in a shooting outside Canadian rapper Drake’s Toronto residence early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 am ET at the entrance to Drake’s property in the upscale Bridle Path neighborhood.

Police cordoned off the area with heavy presence throughout the morning. While investigators are still piecing together the details, a police source revealed to CBC News that initial reports suggest a drive-by shooting. The security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the upper chest and was unconscious upon police arrival. He underwent surgery after being rushed to the hospital.

Authorities recovered security camera footage capturing the incident and are actively acquiring additional surveillance videos throughout the day. No description of the vehicle or suspects has been released yet.
Inspector Paul Krawczyk, speaking on behalf of the Toronto Police, acknowledged the ongoing investigation’s infancy and the lack of a clear motive. He assured the public that updates would be provided as information becomes available.
This incident happened while Drake was already having problems with other artists, especially Kendrick Lamar, a rapper from California. Their argument got worse this week when they released songs dissing each other, with insults and accusations.
Inspector Krawczyk confirmed his awareness of the conflict. The cover art for Lamar’s latest track, “Not Like Us,” features a satellite image of Drake’s house with red markers. Drake seemingly addressed this in an Instagram post promoting his response track, “The Heart Part 6,” with a caption directed at Lamar suggesting he “has a lot to address” instead of revealing his address.
