Most of the city of Maricopa was without electricity Tuesday morning due to an Extensive power outage . According to the power provider ” Outage map ” more than 33,000 costumer were impacted , nearly all of electrical district No . 3’s member
Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) posted following alert on top of Their website as a red alert
ED3 is experiencing a transmission outage to our system. ED3 has been in contact with our transmission providers including WAPA and APS. A transmission crew has been dispatched from APS to investigate the matter. APS reports that it will take at least an hour for the team to be onsite. WAPA has reported that a major event occurred on their system. ED3 will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Update From Power Provider
Outage Update: Both WAPA and APS have re-energized transformers on transmission side. ED3 can confirm that all ED3 transformers and feeders on distribution side are up and running. Power should be restored gradually.
APS said nearly around 80 percent of its costumers were without electricity
Maricopa police officers were deployed to direct and control traffic at the city’s main intersections where the traffic signals were malfunctioning. Officers from the Maricopa Police Department were stationed at these busy intersections to manage traffic flow until power was restored.
